Some Timeless Fashion Trends It is not often that fashion trends become timeless, but certain trends featured on the catwalk for 2011 can have a lasting wardrobe effect. Here are some of the picks to hang on to once the runway rules change. Asymmetrical Necklines- The asymmetrical neckline has been around for a while now, and it shows no sign of disappearing. First appearing on shirts, it has now evolved into a popular neckline choice for elegant dresses and sweaters. Cute off the shoulder and nape skimming styles are elegant and will likely be worn well into the future. The asymmetrical neckline is a great way to make a normal piece of clothing more interesting. For example, the little black dress has long been a wardrobe staple, but add an asymmetrical neckline and it suddenly becomes a piece of couture. Bold Earrings- The craze of the season, bold earrings, including large hoops and chandelier earrings, can have their place well after the trend wears off. As an accessory to give life to a casual or simply elegant outfit, big earrings with a splash of colour could work with any outfit worn at night. Jewellery in itself is timeless and your personal taste in rings and necklaces often becomes a part of who you are. Big, bold earrings give you an opportunity to show off your own personal style. Slits and Sashes- High slits are becoming more popular. This look comes and goes, so there is no reason to chuck it after the season ends. Some people might find this a little tricky to wear and it certainly helps if you have long legs, but to really add an edge to a dress a slit is a great, if daring, idea. Sashes are incredibly versatile too, and can be used to cinch the waist of any dress or pant, and tighten a slightly loose fitting bottom. They’re perfect to use with almost anything to give a more feminine shape, for example with a man’s shirt worn as a dress over leggings. Stripes- Navy and white, (or white and black) sailor type shirts that are totally in now can go well every summer with a pair of white capris and sneakers. The dressier black and white shirt and can also double up as workwear, especially when layered underneath a classic black blazer. The nautical look keeps coming and going and we’re sure it will be back in again before too long.
